A noun is a word that refers to a
person, an animal, a place or a thing.
名词是代表人、动物、地方或东西的词。

There are generally three classes of nouns:
名词一般可分成三类:
- a common noun is a common name shared by a class of the same kind;
e.g.
country,
watermelon, camel, doctor
- a proper noun is the name of a particular person, animal , place or thing;
e.g.
Martin,
Garfield, Malaysia, Proton Wira
* The first
letter of proper nouns are written using
capital letters.
专有名词的第一个字母必须大写。
- a collective noun refers to a group of things that is regarded as one.
e.g.
a
class of pupils
